Coinciding with World Tourism Day (27 Sep), a ceremony was held in Tehran with President Dr. Hassan Rohani and Vice President and Head of Cultural, Heritage and Tourism Organization Dr. Soltanifar in attendance.
The annual award for best Tourism Magazine has been given to Safar’s Editor-in-Chief, Mr. Homayoun Zarghany who represented the organisation and the associated journalists and photojournalists. The monthly covers travel markets and shares analysis both in Iran and other destinations.
Celebrating the World Tourism Day, a number of faculty and tourism experts, activists, hoteliers and tour operators were also honored.
Since 1980, the United Nations World Tourism Organization has celebrated World Tourism Day on September 27.
The purpose of this day is to raise awareness on the role of tourism within the international community and to demonstrate how it affects social, cultural, political and economic values worldwide.
